Take one disc brake, a Yamaha two-stroke engine, four tiny slicks, several feet of steel tubing and you've got the closest thing to a bike on four wheels

The engine for the RC 100S, designated the KT 100S engine, is located on the starboard side of the driver. Consequently, the driver sits slightly offset to the left of the machine. The powerplant itself, the heart of the kart, is a small departure from what Yamaha has done with their motorcycle engines. For the past few years, all the Yamaha two-stroke engines have been reed-valve inducted, but for the kart engine they went back to the more conventional piston-port design.

Yamaha calls their pointless ignition system T.C.I. . As with any electronic ignition, the plug must be wire-grounded when the engine is turning over or there's a great possibility of blowing out the entire system. Since it's a pointless system, however, you can set it once and forget it.The dry weight of the whole machine is 125 pounds. The overall length is 65 inches, with a wheelbase of 41.2 inches. With such a short wheelbase, the handling is quick, but easy to get used to.
