was sentenced on Friday by a Dominican Republic court to six years and nine months in jail for corruption as mayor of San Cristobal.
He spent parts of the 2002 and 2003 seasons with the Yankees and appeared in 169 games for New York. His career also included stints with the Toronto Blue Jays, Arizona Diamondbacks, Pittsburgh Pirates, Los Angeles Angels and Atlanta Braves. He finished his career with a .273 average, 271 home runs and 860 RBI.
