And so, Wetteland is on trial this week in Denton, Texas, accused of sexually assaulting the relative when he was a young boy. According to reports, the now young man claims that the former pitcher made him perform a sex act on him three times between 2004 and 2006. The man says he was 4-years-old when it all began,Wetteland is facing three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Wetteland’s lawyer, Derek Adame, called the graphic story — the Morning News said at least one juror’s mouth was “agape” as the young man testified — “fiction.” Wetteland’s lawyer says that the young man’s stepfather manipulated him into bring “false allegations,” against him.The relative reportedly wrote a letter to family members in a Google Doc during his senior year in high school detailing the abuse. That was reportedly flagged by his school and started the investigation.
