JON JOHNSON TROY – Shortly after Alabama secured the hard-fought 7-6 win over Troy on Tuesday night at a soldout Riddle-Pace Field, former Wallace College teammates Kade Snell of the Crimson Tide and Ethan Kavanagh of the Trojans spent time catching up.

Snell started the game on the mound for Alabama and didn’t allow a hit in two innings pitched. However, he was replaced on the mound by Zane Probst to start the bottom of the third after coming out to take a few warm-up pitches. Snell did remain in the game as a designated hitter the rest of the way.

Troy got off the deck from a 5-0 deficit to tie Alabama in the bottom of the fifth, but William Hamiter hit a home run to lead off the sixth and push the Tide back on top. Down 5-1 in the fifth, Troy got its first hit of the game when Kavanagh singled into center field to drive in two runs. Then, Will Butcher followed with a ground rule double to left center field that almost left the park, to bring in another. The Trojans then tied it on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Brooks Bryan. With the RBI, Bryan tied the Troy single-season record for RBIs with 80, which was set during the 2018 season by Joey Denison.

Troy got a run back in the bottom of the eighth when pinch hitter Mikey Bello hammered a pitch off the scoreboard in deep right to bring in Aidan Gilroy, who had doubled over first.
