Former US President Jimmy Carter passed away at the age of 100 after a period of hospice care. His death follows that of his wife Rosalynn Carter, who died in November 2023 at the age of 96.
Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States, died at the age of 100 on Sunday, December 29, 2024, after being in hospice care at his home since February 2023. His son, Jason Carter, had spoken about his grandfather\u2019s condition in May, saying he was 'doing OK' and praising the 'outpouring of love' the Carter family received following the death of Rosalynn Carter, the former first lady, in November 2023.
Jason Carter had also stated that his grandfather had been in hospice for almost a year and a half and was 'coming to the end.' He emphasized the significance of faith in his grandfather's life journey. Carter had faced various health challenges in recent years, including liver surgery, melanoma, dehydration, falls leading to a broken hip and pelvic fracture. His wife Rosalynn, with whom he shared 77 years of marriage, also entered hospice in November 2023 and passed away a few days later at the age of 96. The Carter family's openness about their experiences with aging, hospice care, and death has been commended by experts
