Dillan was removed from the Union County Sportsmen’s Club, in Millmont, in early 2020 after PETA officials launched a nearly two-year campaign for the release of the bear who was caged at the club.

Wild Animal Sanctuary Executive Director Pat Craig told The Daily Item that Dillan has become a “rock star” since his arrival in Colorado.“Her name is Lily,” Craig said. “He is living the good life and has since adapted to his new home.”“Dillan is a character and a half and is probably one of the funniest bears we have out of the 250 we have,” he said. “He’s got a great life now.”Even that has since changed, Craig said.

The nearly two-year fight between PETA and the club ended with the club no longer allowed to house bears and paying $1,700 to the U.S. Department of Agriculture relating to non-compliance, according to the USDA. PETA Foundation Deputy General Counsel for Captive Animal Law Enforcement Brittany Peet told The Daily Item she is thrilled for Dillan. Peet was in Netflix’s “Tiger King” series about the life and arrest of Joe Exotic — whose real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage — for various violations of killing and selling tigers.

One of the issues with Dillan, according to PETA officials was the bear was in desperate need of dental work.
