'My understanding is that my lawyers have formally submitted an application,' Papadopoulos tells CNBC in a text message.
George Papadopoulos, the former Trump campaign advisor who served 12 days in jail after pleading guilty to charges lodged by special counsel Robert Mueller, said Tuesday that his lawyers have"formally" asked President Donald Trump for a pardon.
Papadopoulos' lawyer, Caroline Polisi, did not respond to CNBC's inquiries. She told The Washington Post in an interview published Monday that she had indeed submitted an application for a pardon, saying,"It would be malpractice not to." Attorney General William Barr's four-page summary of Mueller's final report said that the probe found no evidence of collusion, and that Mueller made no determination about whether Trump obstructed justice.
