Former Troy head coach Neal Brown was fired from West Virginia on Sunday, ESPN reports.
His firing comes after a 52-15 loss to Texas Tech on Saturday. West Virginia University will owe Brown $9.775 million for the final three years of his contract.
“Coach Brown is a great person, and he has served as a tremendous ambassador for West Virginia University,” athletic director Wren Baker said in a statement. “He led our storied program with class and integrity and always put in the hard work necessary to allow for success.” According to ESPN, offensive coordinator Chad Scott will serve as interim head coach the remainder of the season.
