Injuries sidetracked Jude Wolfe's career at USC, but transfer has eye on making a healthy impact in San Diego State's new 'AztecFAST' offense
A broken bone in the fifth metatarsal of the foot, between the base and midpoint, is referred to as a Jones fracture. It was named in 1902 for orthopedic surgeon Robert Jones, who first described the injury after suffering it while dancing. San Diego State tight end Jude Wolfe knows this only too well. Wolfe sustained the injury three times to his left foot while playing football at USC, sidetracking what had the makings of a solid college career.

It’s just coming together really well. “My foot has never felt better.” Wolfe has stood out from the others in his position group during the past five weeks of spring practice. He will have an opportunity to introduce himself to Aztecs fans in Saturday’s Spring Showcase at Snapdragon Stadium.
coach Sean Lewis got a good glimpse of Wolfe last season from the opposite sideline when Lewis was offensive coordinator at Colorado. The game provided the highlight to Wolfe’s career, with the only touchdown catch of his career. Wolfe’s 3-yard, third-quarter touchdown ended up being the difference in a 48-41 victory over Colorado. Lewis had his hands full that day with the Buffaloes, so he might not have been too focused on an opposing tight end.
expects to add depth at tight end when Colorado transfer Michael Harrison arrives over the summer, but Lewis has been pleased with what he has seen from Wolfe. “He’s been consistent,” Lewis said. “He’s a savvy player that’s played a lot of ball. He’s has a good understanding conceptually of what we want to get done has a nice catch radius. “He really adds a physicality and willingness to the run game. We’re very pleased with what he’s been doing.
