Tre’Darius Brown redshirted with Red Raiders in 2023

South Alabama added another football transfer portal commitment late Tuesday, this one from former Texas Tech defensive lineman Tre’Darius Brown.

Brown, who redshirted as a true freshman for the Red Raiders in 2023, has four seasons of eligibility remaining. He joins tight endin the 2023 signing class out of Central High School in Natchitoches, La. He joins a South Alabama defensive line group that will feature three seniors — starting nose guard Wy’Kevious Thomas, starting defensive tackle Maurice Strong and top reserve Carlos Johnson — in 2024.

South Alabama now has seven commitments in the 2024 spring transfer portal cycle, with Brown, Gibbs and McBride joining linebackerThe transfer portal closed for new entries as of May 1, but players already in the portal can commit to and sign with new schools at any time.

South Alabama went 7-6 in 2023, winning the 68 Ventures Bowl. The Jaguars open the 2024 season at home Aug. 31 vs. North Texas.
