Bush's arrest stems from an incident on October 4th, 2022, when Arlington police observed him driving erratically.
He attempted to flee, leading to a brief pursuit, before colliding with three other vehicles at a traffic signal. Witnesses reported that Bush tried to flee the scene but was detained by bystanders until officers arrived. Both Bush and another driver were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, while other motorists escaped unharmed. Bush declined a roadside sobriety test, leading to a warrant being issued for a blood sample. This is not Bush's first encounter with alcohol-related charges. In 2012, he received a 34-month prison sentence for driving under the influence with great bodily injury after hitting a 72-year-old motorcyclist and leaving the scene. The victim survived but sustained serious injuries.Bush's baseball career began with the San Diego Padres in 2004, but legal issues delayed his major league debut until 2016 with the Texas Rangers. The Rangers signed him after a workout in a Golden Corral parking lot, the only location accessible to him under his work-release program. He made a significant impact dominating in the minors for a month before being called up to the majors. He played a role in the Rangers' bullpen during their run to the AL West title. Arm injuries sidelined Bush for most of the 2018 through 2021 seasons. He made a brief comeback on the final day of the 2021 season. In 2022, the Rangers traded him to the Milwaukee Brewers, where he played for almost a year before being released. In July 2023, the Rangers signed Bush to a minor league contract and called him up to the majors on the last day of the season, though he did not pitch.
