Tom Connolly, a Democrat, said he is running to give voters in the district a choice after two Democratic candidates were recently removed from the ballot.
. No Republicans filed for the primary ballot.
Connolly said he is confident he can garner enough support through a grassroots campaign. He said he is seeking both the Democratic and Republican nominations. He said his record includes lowering taxes and reducing crime in Swatara Township. He has also worked with social service, non-profit groups, mainly collecting items and serving meals for those in need and organizing and promoting community cleanup events.
“It’s a diversified, changing population, and year after year these schools are not funded at the level they should be,” he said.
