Smith took to social media on Wednesday to confirm his departure from Moroccan side FAR Rabat following a season in which he helped the club win the Coupe du Trône and finish third in the Botola Pro standings."I would like to thank the entire club and supporters for these memorable six months. We managed to clinch my first professional club title and a third [placed] league spot. All the best in the future. Excited for the next chapter God has in store for me," he said.
The 26-year-old striker, who was also previously on the books of AmaZulu, joined the club from Finnish side FC Honka in January and made no fewer than 11 appearances during his brief stint in the North of Africa. Prior to his stint in Morocco, Smith had established himself as an attacking force in Finland where he scored 10 goals and five assists in 34 games for top-flight side Honka, which followed a similarly prolific spell in the second division.
That came during his maiden season abroad in 2020 when he scored 21 goals in 27 games for Ekenas to win the league's Golden Boot, Striker of the Season and Player of the Season awards.Smith did not rule out a possible return to South African football ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, although a final decision is yet to be made regarding his next move.
