NORTH OLMSTED , Ohio - Records show former Strongsville Assistant Athletic Director Brett Bartlett was already on administrative leave related to “alleged inappropriate interactions with teens” when police accused him of performing a sex act in a Target parking lot.
North Olmsted Police Department charged Bartlett with public indecency following an incident on Jan. 20 at Target on Brookpark Road. NOPD were called for a report of a suspicious man in a small black truck following people around in the parking lot, according to the report. Officers arrived and found Bartlett in the driver’s seat, with his fly unzipped, and accused him of performing a sex act, the report described. In the body camera video, Bartlett told officers his pants may have been down because he was trying on a new pair he had just bought.“While reviewing the footage, Brett can be seen walking around the front of Target while looking at several juvenile females, middle school and high school age,” the report stated. 19 News learned Strongsville City Schools placed Bartlett, then the assistant athletic director, on administrative leave prior to this incident. “Brett’s discipline issues revolved mostly around communication, tardiness, absences, alcohol, and alleged inappropriate interactions with teens, such as asking if teenage girls if they were 18 yet, adding recent 18 year olds on Instagram and messaging them,” NOPD said in the report, citing a subpoena for Bartlett’s records from Strongsville City Schools. After the Target parking lot incident on Jan. 20, but before he was formally charged with public indecency on Jan. 31, Bartlett stepped down from his role at Strongsville City Schools on Jan. 22, NOPD records stated. “Brett Bartlett was an employee of Strongsville City Schools from August 1, 2025 - January 22, 2026. During this time period he served as our Assistant Athletic Director. On January 16, 2026, he was placed on paid administrative leave for an internal administrative matter. The recent incident in North Olmsted occurred while Mr. Bartlett was on leave and is separate from our District’s administrative action. Mr. Bartlett resigned from his position with Strongsville City Schools on January 22, 2026. The District is fully cooperating with local law enforcement regarding this North Olmsted incident."North Ridgeville High School student dies ‘suddenly and unexpectedly’Woman, 28, shot and killed in Starbucks drive-thru when man approaches her with gunNursing home manager stole money from 50+ residents for years, police sayNorth Olmsted police identify alleged Ulta Beauty thief with facial recognition technology
