James Soriano admitted to accepting tickets to the World Series, MLB All-Star Game and Super Bowl, among other perks, from defense contractors he helped enrich
A longtime San Diego-area Department of Defense civil engineer pleaded guilty this week to federal charges related to a yearslong bribery scheme in which he helped defense contractors obtain lucrative contracts in exchange for pricey meals, tickets to the World Series and Super Bowl and no-work jobs for family members and friends who funneled some of their earnings to him.
But according to his plea agreement, Soriano accepted a stream of perks from two favored contractors in exchange for helping them secure millions of dollars in government deals. Soriano admitted in his plea agreement that he and a colleague accepted thousands of dollars worth of meals, and that he accepted tickets to the 2018 World Series and 2019 Super Bowl, from Virginia-based defense contractor Philip Flores and his company, IntelliPeak Solutions.
