Easy Matjila says receiving an honorary doctorate is a sobering reminder.
Renowned broadcaster and former SABC newsreader Masego Ezekiel “Easy” Matjila says receiving an honorary doctorate from his alma mater the North West University on Mandela Day is a sobering reminder of the legacy and lessons left by the late statesman.
Matjila, who started his career over 30 years ago as an on-air radio personality for Radio Setswana, which later became Motsweding FM, saw his exceptional broadcasting skills and language proficiency, leading to his appointment as a Setswana sports commentator, as well as a prime-time news presenter and bulletin editor for SABC.
“I feel deeply honoured. I so wish my mother was still alive, as well as my brother and sister. But as we as Batswana say, they can see wherever they are,” Matjila says.
