Former President Jimmy Carter is being honored with a state funeral in Washington, D.C. His remains will be transported from the U.S. Capitol to Washington National Cathedral for a National Funeral Service, followed by a motorcade to Georgia for a private burial at his family's home.

Former President Jimmy Carter is being honored with a state funeral Thursday in Washington, D.C. After lying in state in the Capitol Rotunda since Tuesday, Carter’s remains depart the U.S. Capitol at 9 a.m. The motorcade will then travel to Washington National Cathedral for a brief arrival ceremony at 9:30 a.m., followed by the National Funeral Service at 10 a.m.Upon conclusion of the service, Carter and his family will travel by motorcade at 11:15 a.m.
