Prosecutors say Cordasco lied to law enforcement when being questioned about his involvement in the bribes.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MARCH 22: Firefighters try to contain a four alarm fire in two homes in Brooklyn on March 22, 2024 in New York City . Cordasco, 49, “repeatedly abused” his position to collect over $190,000 in bribes from former firefighter Henry Santiago, prosecutors wrote. Cordasco accepted the bribes in exchange for using his authority to expedite fire department inspections for Santiago’s customers.

He pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to solicit and receive a bribe, which carries a potential maximum punishment of five years in jail. Cordasco also agreed to forfeit $57,000 in the terms of his plea agreement. New York City Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Philip Banks became the latest city official to resign amid the federal probe of his office, Mayor Adams announced Monday.
