Calhoun was an all-state defensive lineman in 2013 at Restoration Academy in Fairfield.
Additional details surrounding the shooting have not been released, authorities said Calhoun was shot in a possible robbery attempt.
This year, he went to training camp with the Washington Commanders, but they released him Aug. 16 after he got on the field for 10 offensive snaps and two special-teams plays in the Commanders’ preseason opener on Aug. 12. Miami waived Calhoun at the end of the preseason in 2020 and he was claimed by the Cincinnati Bengals. He played in one game with the Bengals in 2020 but spent most of the season on the practice squad.
