MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio - A former Highland High School English teacher pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of sexual battery.
Medina County Common Pleas Judge Joyce Kimbler then sentenced Kyle Brooks to five years in prison and labeled him a Tier 3 sex offender.Brooks apologized to her and her family in court. Brooks, of Akron, was arrested in April at the high school, according to Medina County Sheriff’s Captain Kevin Ross.
Highland Local Schools Superintendent Catherine Aukerman immediately suspended Brooks from all duties and responsibilities within the Highland School District after his arrest and Brooks has since resigned.“The Medina Country Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Highland Local School District Administration and the Medina County Prosecutor’s Office for their assistance in bringing a swift resolve to this egregious allegation,” said Medina County Sheriff Terry Grice.
