A former suspect in a 2019 Mardi Gras shooting was found dead on his 23rd birthday in an empty lot in Mobile, Alabama. Court records show he served time in jail after pleading guilty to two counts of 2nd-degree assault related to the shooting.

According to court records, Barnett was one of two gunmen in a high-profile Mardi Gras shooting back in 2019.Almost ten gunshots were heard as people duck and take cover from bullets.

The Mardi Gras celebrations were interrupted when Mobile Police say then 17-year-old Barnett and another teen opened fire near Conti Street.According to court records, Barnett spent the next two years in Metro Jail, his time served after pleading guilty to two counts of 2nd-degree assault.According to jail records, Barnett was found dead in the empty lot on his 23rd birthday.According to Semmes Police Chief Todd Freind, Barnett was shot in the back at a home on Sycamore Street on January 4.
