Edwin van der Sar in hospital after suffering brain haemorrhage
Ex-Manchester United and Netherlands goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar is in intensive care with"bleeding around the brain".
Following a disappointing season for Ajax, the club finishing third in the Eredivise and missing out on Champions League qualification, Van der Sar announced he would be stepping down from his role after almost 11 years on the club’s board. “It doesn’t feel good to take decisions about the future of this wonderful club in the coming period. That is why I have decided to resign.”Van der Sar played 186 games for Manchester United from 2005 to 2011 and made 226 appearances for Ajax from 1990 to 1999.
