KwaSizabantu members demand answers from the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities.Witnesses who testified up to two years ago of alleged human rights abuses at KwaSizabantu have given SA's religious communities watchdog a deadline of 10 days to produce its overdue report - or face them in court.

According to a letter sent to the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities by retired Judge Eberhard Bertelsmann, of the Echo Pro Bono Legal Aid Clinic, the interested parties were dismayed at yet another delay in the publishing of the findings of its probe, which was"promised to be made available on several occasions during 2022 already".

The commission on Friday missed its own deadline, saying lawyers representing some of the affected parties requested"some more time" to engage their clients.Get 14 days free to read all our investigative and in-depth journalism.
