One of the Kings' former executives gave a ridiculous reason why the team didn't draft Luka Doncic.
Since he was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks back in 2018, point guard Luka Doncic has been one of the best players in the entire NBA. While he hasn't won an MVP award yet, Doncic has been dominant on the offensive side of the ball.He just led the Mavericks to the NBA Finals this past season but the team fell short to the Boston Celtics. However, many believe that this was just the start for Doncic having long playoff runs for the remainder of his career.
'At the time, I believed Fox was a player who could become a franchise star in the coming years.'Sacramento had just taken guard De'Aaron Fox the year prior in the first round so the thought was to pair him with Bagley. But Doncic could have given the Kings one of the strongest backcourt in the entire league and the two guards at least could have tried to make things work out.Divac still believes he made the right decision, saying that 'time will tell' if he was wrong.
