“The district does not hold onto any food that is unsafe for consumption according to USDA regulations,” Fernandez said.

A former Jersey City school district employee claims the district has been serving and storing expired food products ― including some items that should have been tossed six years ago.

Chris Sarullo, the former deputy director of food services, said he was fired last month after three months on the job for bringing attention to outdated food that includes frozen turkey meat that expired in 2017.
