The Summit County prosecutor says a former Hudson doctor was found guilty Friday on felony charges of rape and sexual battery.
Published: Dec. 20, 2024 at 12:47 PM ESTAKRON, Ohio - Mahmud KaraIt happened after Kara, the victim, and two others attended a dinner together, according to a news release.Prosecutors say Kara was forced to give up his medical license in 2018 after an undercover investigation resulted in charges against him.
He admitted to failing to follow Ohio code when prescribing weight loss medications, according to prosecutors. “Sexual violence has no place in Summit County... I am impressed by the courage of the survivor and grateful for her ability to stand up and tell the truth about Mahmud Kara. Thank you to the jurors for their thoughtful deliberation and to the Hudson Police Department as well as my assistant prosecutors for their work in holding Kara accountable.”According to the release, he faces 11 to 16.5 years in prison, and he could also become a Tier III registered sex offender.Copyright 2023 WOIO.
