A former Greece police sergeant is now suing the town.

FILE - Greece Police Sergeant Jared Rene speaks to the media March 28, 2021, during a shelter-in-place at the Spanish Gardens Apartments after gunfire struck a home in the complex. Jared Rene claims the Greece Police Department retaliates against and drives out officers who report or investigate corruption. He also claims a town official tried to conceal the crash involving former Greece Police Chief Drew Forsythe , who later pleaded guilty to DWAI .

This lawsuit is the latest in a series of meritless claims filed on behalf of individuals by a lawyer seeking to extract millions of taxpayer dollars from Greece for baseless claims. Let be clear, the Town of Greece and my administration will not bend to these frivolous claims. I will protect the taxpayers from this nonsense at every turn. Changing the culture of this Town has been a focus of my administration.
