MELAKA: A 41-year-old former general manager of a government agency has been remanded for six days for allegedly accepting a RM47,000 bribe in 2021.
The remand order was issued by magistrate Nabilah Nizam on Wednesday after an application was made by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission .
The suspect was believed to have received the bribe as an inducement to endorse the completion of a project under the Prihatin Rakyat Economic Stimulus Package amounting to RM90,000. The suspect was arrested when he turned up to give his statement at the MACC office here at 10pm on Tuesday . The remand order was obtained to enable MACC to probe the suspect under Section 17 of the MACC Act 2009.
