The Franklin County Sheriff 's Office reportedly was notified of an external investigation into Charles Davis in September 2023, and he was immediately placed on administrative leave .The U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested him Wednesday in Ross County. He was released from jail in the same day on recognizance bond and is being monitored through GPS.
"I don't know what evidence they have on him, and obviously I wouldn't say he's a flight risk," Scott told ABC 6. "They did give him a recognizance bond to allow him to spend time at home and being monitored."He was put on administrative leave last year after the sheriffs office was notified of an external investigation.
"You hear something like this has occurred and it's disheartening," Scott said. "You hear the situation and you don't want to believe its true." This is not the first time Davis has made headlines. In 2008 Davis was demoted and suspended for 60 days after his part in hazing new deputies inside the Franklin County Corrections Center."Unfortunately when there is an indictment, there is something going on, so hopefully they get to the bottom of it, but he's been indicted, not found guilty," he said."It's embarrassing to the department to have a deputy who got themselves in this situation.
