Authorities said in 2023 that Chinn was found to have uploaded illicit images of children, which were flagged by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. A search warrant was executed at Chinn's home in Grandview later that year, and investigators found a computer with more than 4,000 illicit images. A forensic analysis of the computer found that he had downloaded much of the content from a "Russian social media site known to be used for the download and exchange of child sexual abuse material," according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Ohio.with pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and pandering obscenity. Chinn was released on bond in that case, but was charged federally in September 2023, and the federal indictment superseded the charges in the local matter.
