With the resignation of Bill Shine, Donald Trump has had five different communications directors since entering the White House

after less than one year on the job, officials said Friday.

Shine was the fifth communications director for an administration that has been in office only two years and two months. Starting the job in early July, Shine wound up as Trump's longest-serving communications director at a little more than nine months. He came to the White House after a long career as an executive at Fox News.

Along the way, Shine reportedly found himself under criticism from Trump for his portrayals in the media; Trump has said he believes he is his own best communicator.
