Adam Bess, 35, could be sentenced to a maximum of 10 years in prison, federal prosecutors say.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio says the incident involving Adam Bess, 35, occurred on Nov. 1, 2021, at the Erie County Jail. Bess was working at the jail and booking a female suspect when he “repeatedly” choked the woman, causing lasting bruising and for her vision to pixelate, the U.S. Attorney’s Office says.
Prosecutors say the woman can be heard yelling “He’s about to kill me, he’s about to kill me,” during the assault. Bess pleaded guilty to a felony charge of depriving an inmate of her constitutional rights by using excessive force. A sentencing date has not been set.
