“You gave me everything, you shaped me into an excellent human being, and you helped me be a blessing to others... 18 years later, filled with gratitude and many beautiful memories, I take off my uniform, hang up my glove and cleats, and say goodbye... “Thanks to God above all, to my family who are the best, to every organization I was with, to the coaches who helped me, to my friends who were always there for me, to the press who were always kind and courteous to me, and to all those wonderful fans who always enjoyed the best of me on the field.“ MIAMI, FLORIDA - AUGUST 28: Trayce Thompson #25 of the Los Angeles Dodgers celebrates his solo home run in the second inning against the Miami Marlins at loanDepot park on August 28, 2022 in Miami, Florida. Alberto played 488 games for the Texas Rangers , Baltimore Orioles , Kansas City Royals , Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox . He slashed .269/.292/.381 with 22 home runs and 137 RBIs, seeing time at every position except center field and catcher. Alberto, 33, also made 14 pitching appearances in mop-up situations — 10 for the Dodgers in 2022 alone. He had a 7.07 ERA . More news: Former Yankees, Dodgers Outfielder Retires, Joins Padres Coaching Staff In his first season in Baltimore, Alberto thrived in his only season as a full-time regular, batting .305 with 12 home runs and 3.4 bWAR in 2019. He played 54 of a possible 60 games for the Orioles the following year, which was shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic. After a less impressive season with the Royals in 2021, Alberto joined the Dodgers as a free agent in 2022 and helped them win 111 games. The Dodgers were frequently on the right side of blowout victories that year, and manager Dave Roberts often gave the ball to Alberto to pitch when the game was out of reach.
