Carl Edmison, 58, is jailed on 13 counts of theft of a firearm, and his bond has not been set, according to online jail records. The charges he faces are felonies, officials said in a news release. It is unclear if he has an attorney.Authorities executed a search warrant late Thursday at Edmison’s home in Frost, Texas. DeSoto police identified numerous items that are believed to have been stolen during his employment, including 13 firearms, a compressor and power tools, officials said.

Edmison started working with the department as a jailer in 2009 and was chosen as a property and evidence technician in 2016, a city spokesman said. He resigned in 2022.The search came about two weeks after authorities received a tip from the public that Edmison was alleged to have stolen from the DeSoto Police Department’s property and evidence room over an extended period, officials said.

Detectives began an investigation which led to Edmison’s arrest.
