It was revealed last month that Oliver Farnwroth would be joining fellow ITV soap Emmerdale as a new character

Oliver Farnworth has described wearing his Coronation Street exit as a 'badge of honour' as he prepares to return to screens in another soap. It was revealed last month that the actor would be joining fellow ITV soap Emmerdale as a new character.

He'll make his first appearance on screens next week, as having taken Eric Pollard to a funeral, Victoria accidentally puts her foot in it with the bereaved son at his mum's funeral, only for him to introduce himself as John Sugden. It's later that Pollard tells her John could actually be her half brother and her late father Jack Sugden's son.

"It really is going right into the deep end with the character. He's got a pretty amazing backstory. Obviously half brother to Victoria, which we find out quite quickly, but there's a whole lot of depth to him and little bits just kind of coming out now, but it's been a whirlwind." Despite his soap-laden CV, it appears Oliver can still go around incognito. "I'm not recognised for Coronation Street," he told us. "I got to die twice at the hands of Pat Phelan which is a badge of honour. Hollyoaks was my first job out of drama school, and I lasted nine months on that - it was a steep learning curve."
