He was a two-sport star at Boston College before being drafted by Cincinnati.
Willis played for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Houston Oilers and spent six seasons in the NFL.
Willis was a native of Natick, Massachusetts, and he played collegiately — both football and hockey — at Boston College. He ran for 2,115 yards across three seasons with the Eagles, and became the first player in school history to rush for more than 1,000 yards when he went for 1,107 as a senior. The Bengals selected Willis in the fourth round, 93rd-overall, in the 1971 draft. He played for the team through into the 1972 season when he was traded to the Oilers for receiver Charlie Jones and linebacker Ron Pritchard.
