Puka Nacua had a memorable rookie season in the NFL, but the BYU and Orem High School alum created a lasting memory for a diehard Los Angeles Rams fan. Through the USAA’s Salute to Service, Nacua took part in giving U.S. Air Force veteran Jim Sullivan two tickets to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas. “It’s a huge honor for me to honor people who serve our country,” Nacua said. “I have two family members who also a part of the National Guard as well, so when the opportunity presented itself I jumped on it as fast as I could.” Sullivan served in the Air Force, supporting supply and logistics for 23 years , retiring at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. “I was incredible,” said Sullivan to 2News on Saturday about being awarded the tickets from USAA. “Just amazing and it’s been even better since we got here.” During his two-decade military career, Jim was stationed at multiple installations throughout the United States, as well as assignments in Greece and Germany, where he oversaw warehouse designs, contracting and logistics operations. A few highlights of his decorated service career include being awarded Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, and Airman of the Year. With the extra ticket to the Super Bowl, Sullivan is bringing Air Force veteran, Master Sergeant Michael Grabow. Grabow also spent time with Nacua on Saturday at the USAA’s Salute to Service lounge inside of the NFL’s Super Bowl Experience at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.We ran into a few of the NFL greats ahead of Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas“I haven’t been to the big game either, so he’s is going there before me,” Nacua said. “I hope he enjoys the experience, it’s going to be a good game.” He said that he won’t be going to Allegiant Stadium to watch the Super Bowl but will instead be visiting family in the area. After setting a new rookie record for receiving yards in the 2023 season, Nacua was a finalist for the NFL’s Rookie Offensive Player of the Year award. Nacua hauled in six touchdowns, totaling 1,486 yards on 106 receptions. He had eight games where he totaled more than 100 receiving yards. Nacua was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the 5th round of the 2023 draft as the 177th pick overall.
