What an amazing life! Happy birthday Joyce! 🎉
One of the last remaining people to have worked at Bletchley Park in the Second World War has celebrated her 100th birthday.
During her time at Bletchley Park, Joyce was a bombe operator. The British Bombe was an electromagnetic device used by cryptologists to decipher German Enigma-machine-encrypted secret messages. "We took our work very seriously and everything had to be double checked. We did also have a lot of fun in our own way and we chatted to each other while we worked."
Joyce now has six grandchildren, who she helped look after following Leslie's passing in 1988, and 14 great grandchildren.
