Alfreda Fluker, a former Birmingham police detective, testifies in her capital murder trial. She has remained in jail without bond since her April 11, 2020, arrest in the 'love triangle' shooting. She was immediately fired from the police force.

A former Birmingham police detective on trial for capital murder said she was overcome with anger when she fired 15 rounds from her service weapon into a vehicle where she said her common-law husband was having sex with another woman.

White, Fluker said, took a shower, took a Viagra pill and then put on cologne as he was preparing to leave. He told her he was going to his cousin’s house in the Bessemer area. Fluker testified that she did not know Fuller. White, she said, had asked her previously to run Fuller’s name on a law enforcement database to see if she had any outstanding warrants, which Fuller said she did.

A 'love triangle' led to a deadly shooting that left a 43-year-old woman dead and Birmingham police Det. Alfreda Fluker, 39, charged with capital murder. A male BPD detective was involved but not injured. Fluker said she told White they needed to get Fuller to the hospital. “He’s like, ‘No, I can’t leave her truck in the park,’’' she said.
