Auburn baseball fans will have a former Tiger to root for during the 2022 MLB All-Star Game.
Cooper played at Auburn in the 2012 and 2013 seasons, compiling a .340 batting average and .503 slugging percentage.
The Milwaukee Brewers drafted Cooper in the sixth round in 2013. He reached the Major Leagues with the New York Yankees in 2017 and was traded to the Marlins after that season. Two other injury replacements were added to the All-Star Game rosters on Tuesday, with the Boston Red Sox’s J.D. Martinez replacing Houston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez and the San Francisco Giants’ Carlos Rodon replacing Brewers reliever Josh Hader.
