When Malzahn returned to Auburn as head coach in 2013, he made the then-30-year-old Lashlee his offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Lashlee spent four seasons with the Tigers — helping them to an SEC title and BCS national championship game appearance in his first year — before serving as OC at Connecticut , SMU and Miami .Hired as head coach at SMU after Sonny Dykes left for TCU in 2022, Lashlee led the Mustangs to records of 7-6 and 11-3 before the school joined the ACC.
