MINNEAPOLIS — He must wait a month, but Christian Vázquez already has plans for his new piece of jewelry.
Friday’s series opener against the Astros reunited Vázquez with the club he helped guide to a World Series championship. HisThe Astros will give Vázquez his during the Twins’ visit to Minute Maid Park on May 29-31. In the interim, Vázquez must continue his acclimation to a new team and pitching staff.
The Astros acquired him from Boston at last season’s trade deadline in hopes of taking some burden from starter Martín Maldonado and extracting more offense. Vázquez appeared in just 35 games with the Astros, but did catch the club’s combined no-hitter in Game 4 of the World Series. He struck a run-scoring single in Game 6, too.
