4 as Green Bay rested many of its regulars in its regular-season finale in preparation for its Wild-Card Weekend game the next week.By claiming Diggs off waivers, the Packers assumed the remaining three years of the five-year, $97 million contract extension he had signed with Dallas. But because all $42.3 million of the guaranteed money in the deal already had been paid to Diggs, Green Bay could release him without owing the cornerback anything. Diggs’ time with the team cost the Packers $472,000 in salary and a $58,823 game-day roster bonus for his Week 18 appearance. All the players in the Wild-Card Weekend game received $53,500. A second-round draft pick by Dallas in 2020, Diggs was a first-team All-Pro selection in 2021 when he led the NFL with 11 interceptions. He earned Pro Bowl recognition again in 2022 before injuries affected his next three seasons. Diggs played in only the first two games of the 2023 season before a torn anterior cruciate ligament caused him to miss the rest of the campaign.But Diggs missed eight straight games because of a concussion suffered in a home accident and knee soreness before returning to the field on Dec. 21 in a 34-17 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, and he played every defensive snap in a 30-23 victory over the Washington Commanders on Dec. 25 before being waived.Quarterback Mac Jones gets ‘the train back on the tracks’ in 2025Entering this season, Diggs had yielded a passing-efficiency rating of 72.7 in his career when opposing quarterbacks targeted receivers being covered by him.when throwing to receivers covered by Diggs.
