Former Alabama running back said legendary coach 'didn't say a word.'
The former Alabama coach had a way of getting the best out of players and his team. Former Alabama running back Damien Harris revealed there was one week Saban didn’t say a word leading up to a conference game, yet he had the team’s undivided attention.
“I kid you not, the first meeting we had, coach Saban just played that and then he left,” Harris told the “Until Saturday” podcast. “Didn’t say a word. We just went out to practice. This is the only game ever that coach Saban never said a word before the game.”If you remember, Vanderbilt’s Nifae Lealao called out the Tide after the Commodores 14-7.
“And then, I don’t know how much time was on the clock, coach Saban was like, ‘Y’all ready to go?’ Everybody was like, ‘Yep,’ and we said our prayer and we went out there and kicked the lining out of their ass.”Harris ran for a career-high 151 yards and three touchdowns, Bo Scarbrough added two TDs and top-ranked Alabama stomped Vanderbilt in the SEC opener for both teams that year.
