2026 has quietly been a big year for Apple TV thus far, and it’s only going to continue with big releases coming later this summer, like Ted Lasso Season 4.
Apple TV started the year strong with one of its most anticipated TV returns, Hijack, the gripping thriller that stars Idris Elba. The show performed exceedingly well while it was on the air, but its fate beyond Season 2 has yet to be decided. Apple TV also recently premiered the sophomore season of one of its most overlooked sci-fi shows, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which is directly tied to the MonsterVerse franchise returning to the big screen next year.
The show stars Kurt Russell opposite his son Wyatt Russell as older and younger versions of the same character, marking the first time they’ve ever worked together. Just because Apple TV releases hot new projects every month doesn’t mean the streamer isn’t always on the hunt for its next big thing, though. Yesterday, Apple TV officially announced its next big series, Disavowed, the epic new spy thriller starring James Marsden.
Marsden was already a massive star, but he’s trending upwards right now thanks to his recent performance in Paradise and his return as Cyclops in Avengers: Doomsday later this year. He can also be seen acting opposite Jon Hamm in the second season of Your Friends & Neighbors on Apple TV, so this will mark a return to the platform for him.
It’s unclear at this time when Disavowed is going to be released on Apple TV or even when it will begin filming, but the show is being developed by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, who came up with the original idea for Disavowed.
