A forensic report has implicated uThukela District Municipality Mayor Prince Ntandoyenkosi Shabalala and Speaker Lihle Nqubuka in corruption and maladministration in relation to multimillion-rand security contracts granted to one company.

Drawing from the damning forensic report by SD Moloi and Associates, KwaZulu-Natal Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi's ministerial representative in the troubled municipality, Nkosinathi Madondo, recommended that the MEC fire the duo. News24 recently reported that Shabalala strutted around with 12 bodyguards - officials and councillors walked around with bodyguards at a cost of R10 million to the taxpayer.
