Foreign Office issues Turkey travel alert, warning of new terror threats

The update follows Quran burning incidents elsewhere in Europe

The Foreign Office’s travel advice also carries a continued warning of “a heightened risk of terrorist attack against the aviation industry in Turkey”. No further detail has been given, but air passengers are advised to “co-operate fully with security officials at airports”., increasing by more than 44 per cent year on year in November 2022.

The Turkish ministry for culture and tourism forecasts 60 million visitors in 2023 – a 20 per cent increase in volume from 2019’s figures, just shy of 50 million visitors. Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have recently introducing additional flights and holidays to Turkey this summer from seven of their UK bases.
