“Regardless of the exact track, tropical impacts are expected along parts of the Gulf Coast later week or next weekend,” AccuWeather meteorologist Grady Gilman said, recommending that people in the southern U.S. should begin basic preparations for a potential tropical storm or hurricane. Forecasters say there's a 70% chance of a tropical storm developing this week near or in the Gulf of Mexico, with some saying the storm has the potential to grow into a strong hurricane that could impact the U.S. Gulf coast.say the “latest computer forecast models suggest a tropical depression or storm could form as soon as Tuesday when it’s near the Cancún or western Cuba.”
