After several days of heavy rain, San Diego County should get a brief break from the wet weather — at least until Thursday.
It also will be cooler. Forecasters expect high temperatures in the upper 50s to lower 60s along the coast and in the inland areas — about 7 to 13 degrees cooler than normal. Some areas might have patchy frost overnight. San Diego International Airport has received 4.6 inches of rain so far this month, making it the wettest January since 1995, when 8.06 inches fell. As of Tuesday morning, the airport had received the equivalent of 178 percent of rain that normally falls by this date.
Ranchers had asked the Border Patrol for assistance and agents brought trucks and trailers to the site, said agency spokesperson Hector Quintanilla. He said 16 of the horses were taken to the Imperial Beach stables.
