On several Ford and Lincoln SUVs, an unexpected software reset can cut out rearview camera footage and disable safety tech. See if your vehicle is involved.

Ford issued a recall for 339,619 SUVs due to an issue affecting the rearview camera and advanced driver assistance systems. According to recall documents, an internal processing module may reset, which cuts the feed to the rearview camera and disables ADAS features.

The recall affects some 2025 Ford Explorers, as well as a subset of 2025 Lincoln Aviators, 2024–2025 Lincoln Nautilus, and 2022–2025 Lincoln Navigator SUVs.Ford issued a recall for 339,619 SUVs to fix an issue that impacts the rearview camera and advanced driver-assistance systems . Specifically, the recall covers the 2025 Ford Explorer, 2025 Lincoln Aviator, 2024–2025 Lincoln Nautilus, and 2022–2025 Lincoln Navigator. According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration , the Image Processing Module A can unexpectedly and repeatedly reset. If that happens, the rearview camera image will be lost, and ADAS systems such as pre-collision assist, lane-keeping, and blind-spot monitoring will be disabled. According to the recall documents, if the module resets repeatedly over several ignition cycles, the rearview camera and ADAS systems can be permanently broken. The NHTSA documents show that the issue with the IMPA is caused by a computational overload when tracking a large number of people or cars, which is exacerbated by large crowds of people or other vehicles. The dashboard may display messages such as 'Front Camera Fault,' 'Pre-Collision Assist Not Available,' or 'Lane-Keeping System Off,' and the blind-spot monitors may turn on as an indication of the IMPA resetting. Owners of affected models will have the option of bringing their vehicle to a dealership to have a remedy software fix installed, though Ford is anticipating that an over-the-air software update will be available. The new software reportedly increases the robustness of the image processing module to prevent it from resetting. Ford plans to begin notifying dealers of the recall on March 25, with owner notifications planned for March 30. Owners can learn if their vehicle is involved in the recall by consulting the NHTSA recalls page.
